Information You Can Use

Become a Red Cross Health & Safety Instructor. This is a link to the national American Red Cross web page with information on becoming an instructor.

Instructor classes will be held at the Chapter office during the month of October. Complete course offerings and dates will be available soon.

Instructor Authorizations: how to get authorized to teach and how to ensure that your authorization is renewed.

What's New:

The latest revision of the American Red Cross Babysitter's training has been released. Completely updated in format and content, this course can now be taught as a module within the course. For complete information about this course, please visit www.redcross.org.

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding program has been completely revised. There are now four different lifeguard courses that can be taught-

Shallow Water Attendant-this is for people who will be guarding in places where the water is less than 4 feet deep, such as lap pools, splash pools, and baby pools. It is not for people guarding in the shallow end of a pool that has any water deeper than 4 feet.

Lifeguarding- this is the traditional lifeguard course for people who will be lifeguards in a swimming pool, but not a lake.

Waterfront Lifeguarding- this course covers people who will be guarding at a lake or other non-surf open water, and it also allows them to be a pool lifeguard.

Waterpark Lifeguarding- this course is for people guarding in a water park or a pool, but not a lake.

There are also bridge courses for Shallow Water Attendants who want to become Lifeguards, or pool lifeguards who wish to become Waterfront or Waterpark lifeguards.
