Frequently asked questionsHow do I register and pay for a class?Registering is easy! Simply select a course from our on-line schedule, choose a session that's right for you, and sign up for it online. You can also register by calling 609 267 9595 or visiting the Red Cross office our business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding major holidays. Prepayment of course fee(s) is required, so be sure to have your credit card or other payment information ready when registering. Will I receive a confirmation and can I get a receipt?If you register online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. If you register over the phone, you can receive a receipt at your class upon request. If I cancel my registration for a class, can I get a refund?There are no refunds for courses that you fail to attend. See below for our transfer policy. Can I transfer to a class that works better for my schedule?If you cannot attend your scheduled class, you may transfer one time for no additional charge if you call us 48 hours in advance or leave a message at 609 267 9595 x118 (it is time and date stamped). Any transfer after that is a $10 charge. Can I take a class if I have a medical condition or a special educational need?We will work with you to accommodate medical conditions or disabilities as much as possible, although certification requirements vary among classes. For more information, or to pre-arrange a class, call 609 267 9595 How actively must I participate in class?Participation is required in order to pass the skills assessment portion of the class. To successfully complete a course, you must attend all class sessions, correctly answer at least 80% of the questions on the written exam(s), participate in all skill sessions and scenarios, and demonstrate competency in all required skills. What if I am late to class?Since the core of most programs is taught at the beginning of class, you won’t want to miss a minute of class time. If you are more than ten minutes late to class, your attendence will be at the instructors discretion. Can lost certificates be replaced?We can send you replacement certificates for any courses taught at the Burlington County Chapter as long as your certification is still valid. Simply provide the course name, location and completion dates when making your request. A $5.00 processing fee will be assessed for each replacement certificate issued. If you need to replace a lost certificate, please call (609) 267 9595 x 109 or x 110. Can I get sick using a manikin?CPR training with manikins is a safe and common practice. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there has never been a reported case of any infectious disease transmitted through the use of CPR manikins. The American Red Cross trains nearly 12 million people annually in lifesaving skills and follows widely accepted guidelines for cleaning and decontaminating training manikins to reduce the risk of disease transmission. If training cannot be postponed, you can call our office ahead of time and request your own manikin. Your manikin will not be used by anyone else until it has been cleaned according to the recommended end-of-class decontamination procedures.
Please request your own manikin if you have:
An acute condition, such as a cold, sore throat or cuts and sores on your hands or around your mouth.
Tested positive for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), indicating you are currently infected with the hepatitis B virus.
A chronic infection indicated by long-term positive blood tests for HBsAg or a positive blood test for antibodies to HIV, the virus that causes many severe infections including AIDS.
A condition that makes you unusually likely to get an infection. Contact Hours/Continuing EducationAll courses are C.E.U. approved by IACET a nationally recognized C.E.U. administrator group. IACET credits can be accessed thru the Red Cross store. |
